Antiphonus Ensemble with guest Edin Karamazov

On Tuesday, 5th April 2016 at 8 p.m. in the atrium of the Museum

concert Dowland, English madrigals & folksongs of the British Isles

The Dubrovnik Republic is proud of its Sorkočevićs, diplomats, musicians, and in a similar role in the Albion sky there is a shining star named John Dowland. He is a composer, lute player, singer and spy who is in love with you and who knows how to bring to tears and emotion not only the sensitive ladies. A selection from his five books of poems, of distant and mysterious echoes – old folk songs of the British Isles, as well as the brilliant English Mannerist madrigals modeled on Gesualdo, will be prepared for you – with pleasure – by Antiphonus. And who would be the best helmsman to sail the misty waters of Avalon on a boat of a long-necked lute than Edin Karamazov, who tested the repertoire, before the performance in Zagreb, with Andreas Scholl and Sting…?
